Battlefield Park Introduces Luminary Parade Tradition

The inaugural procession made its way through the River The start of what is hoped to become an annual celebration of spring took place Friday at River Raisin National Battlefield Park with the introduction of a luminary parade.

Kat Gardiner, the National Park Service guide who came up with the idea and led the event, wasn’t deterred by the fact just a handful of curious people participated. She considered this to be an introduction of what is a hugely popular event in other communities.
